The steps below follow the order of the work for this living rooms project.
Back in February I showed you my sister’s solid new floating hardwood flooring, by Impressions Hardwood Collection that we helped her install.

Here is the furniture *mostly cleared out of the room and they were starting to paint. My sister found a mis-mixed paint that she used for the color. So sorry but we don’t have a paint color name.
After:
I LOVE this bookcase. My grandmother had it custom made in the 50’s or 60’s and it is one of those pieces that I have grown up looking at. We didn’t want to paint it. But to change it up a bit we used faux wood grain wrapping paper as a backing that can be removed. The mostly white background also helped to brighten up the overall look of the room!

This project was done on a MAJOR modest-cost, i.e. whatever we had… My sister has two kids serving ecclesiastical service missions and that is like a second mortgage every month. The furniture is my sofa (used in my last living room with a slip cover), and my two slipper chairs, a cute old bench that was my grandmothers and the one major purchase was the bench turned coffee table. Which I got at TJMaxx for just under $100. I bought a few other things like the lamps… on the chest in the window.

We created a gallery wall using what my sister had, some meaningful old plates and a few spray painted frames from the local goodwill store(DI).

In case you missed it, the flooring is Salem Java, a floating hardwood flooring flooring was a great foundation for the room, and from there we got busy! What do you think?

Be sure to visit the first half of this post were we give you tips for installing new wood flooring!
PS: Wondering about the rug? All the details plus some more great similar rugs are here.
