Supplies you will need

  • Washcloth 12″ x 12″ (but you can easily adapt this to any size cloth or towel)
  • Matching thread
  • Sewing Machine
  • 18” of Ribbon

Directions

Step 1:

Measure out 18” of ribbon, cut it at a diagonal, and set it aside. These will be your ties.

Step 2:

Grab the bottom of your washcloth and fold it up about 4” (this is flexible based on what items you intend to include in your roll-up), making sure to keep the left sides and right sides even and together.

Step 3:

Fold your ribbon in half and place the folded side about an inch below the lower edge that’s now in the middle (see pic.)

Step 4:

Sew along the edge of the washcloth, keeping the ribbon in place, and the edges even. (see pic)

Step 5:

Sew the other side of the washcloth. Start sewing from the bottom. (see pic) Sew along the edge of the washcloth, until you reach the top of the folded portion.

Step 6:

Lay the items you want to use in your Handmade Shower Caddy on the sewn washcloth and use pins to mark on each side of each item. This will show you where to sew to make individual pouches.

Step 7:

Make the pouches by sewing straight vertical lines, beginning with your presser foot between your sets of pins. (In the above pic, I’m missing a pin on the left….oops, sorry!). Remove the pins as needed, and sew a straight line from the top of the folded portion to the bottom. Repeat as many times as necessary to complete each pouch.

Step 8:

Place your items inside the pouches, roll up, and then tie the ribbons into a bow. It’s as direct as that! Pack this in your bags and your toiletries will stay organized and easiliy accessible!
