Unless you live in a spacious Pinterest dream home, bathroom storage and functionality is always an issue. Too many people, too many things, not enough space to put them. And how to design a striking space while also making it functional? One key is to get rid of clutter and pare it down to only what you need. Another great way to make a space look and feel modern and stylish without having to redecorate every ten minutes (or at least that’s what it feels like!) is to use a nice neutral white with some classic texture, like beadboard. That’s just one of the reasons why we love this contemporary rustic (er, sorta) white bathroom. We’ve got 6 tips for making this look happen in your home. (image via Better Homes and Gardens)

6 Tips for a Stylish White Bathroom

1. Think in Twos and Threes

Something about symmetrical pairs and triplets just looks so nice and aesthetically striking to our brains (and therefore our eyes). It gives order to any space to have sets of two and/or three, so think in those terms when you design your bathroom for a clean look. The double sinks match up with the tall mirrors, which are flanked by triple sconces to give a polished look.

2. Give It Texture

You know I love moldings and wainscoting! A direct neutral color scheme might seem bland until you punch it up with some texture on the walls (or ceiling!) and add a few colorful accents. look at our guide to wainscoting (with over 20 tutorials!) to find the style that’s right for you, your modest-cost, and your skill level.

3. Use Unused Space

Even in the smallest room, you can make a little bit of storage by using the space in between the studs! Try one of these inspiring options and tutorials:

D: repurposed cabinet door, via Second Use
E: tiled between-stud storage, Lemon Grove Blog
F: storage niche, This Old House
G: built-in cabinet, Family Handyman

I: in-wall shelves, Lowe’s

4. Be Vainly Creative…

…about the vanity! An open vanity makes the space seem larger, but a beautifully designed open vanity can take up your whole modest-cost very easily. Use what you have to make a dresser, table, or just a builder grade vanity into an open vanity, like one of these:

5. Add a Statement

There’s no better place in a bathroom to make a statement with a piece you love like with your sink and/or faucet! I love the style of these in our inspiration photo, and you can find a similar vessel-style sink here or here and tall double-handled faucet here.

6. Keep Storage Stylish

Using a large basket underneath an open vanity adds back a bit of tidy storage, and using vintage or repurposed glass jars to store bathroom supplies such as soap and bath salts makes them useful and striking.
