Our World Just Got a Whole Lot Sweeter: Welcome, Etta!
Life has a funny way of accelerating, especially when joyful news is involved. In the blink of an eye, what started as a single email from Justin to our parents for family forwarding transformed into a delightful avalanche of nearly twenty warm messages from all of you, showering us with love and well wishes. It was truly the best kind of welcome home imaginable! While the digital currents of email and social media carried our exciting news at lightning speed, my little corner of the blogging world seems to operate on a slightly different, more leisurely timeline. But fear not, dear readers, for today I am absolutely thrilled to catch you up and formally introduce the incredibly special reason for our recent flurry of excitement, sleep-deprived smiles, and overflowing hearts.
The Anticipation Ends: Our Little Girl Has Arrived!

Yes, our precious daughter, Etta, decided to make her grand entrance a little earlier than anticipated, and our lives have been wonderfully chaotic and incomparably joyful ever since. The moment we laid eyes on her, every worry dissipated, replaced by an overwhelming wave of love and profound gratitude. She’s simply enchanting, and we’re still pinching ourselves that she’s finally here, in our arms, making our family complete.
A Glimpse into Etta’s First Days
And WOW, is she fun!
She truly is! Even in these first few days, her personality is already shining through. From her adorable sleepy smiles to her surprisingly strong little grip, every interaction is a new discovery and a source of endless amusement. We’re completely captivated. I promise to share more stories, more details, and undoubtedly many more photos once I manage to free up both hands – a rare luxury these days! For now, please enjoy these initial snapshots from our brand new life as a family of three.
A quick summary of our little miracle’s arrival:
Etta arrived Wednesday night, weighing a healthy 8 lbs 5 oz and measuring just over 20 inches long.
Even though it’s only been a short time, she has already changed so much, growing and developing right before our eyes. The exhaustion is real – six hours of sleep in a 36-hour period feels like a luxurious dream – but every moment spent gazing at her perfect little face, holding her close, or simply hearing her soft coos makes every ounce of tiredness worth it a thousand times over. These first few pictures are just a teaser, designed to keep you smiling until I can gather my thoughts (and maybe a bit more rest!) to share the full narrative of her beautiful birth.
Capturing Precious Moments: Etta’s Photo Debut

Here she is after a successful “happy hour” in boob land – a perfectly satisfied little sleeper.
Just look at that adorable double chin! And her inch-long, rich chocolate brown hair is simply beautiful – a lovely surprise.
According to Grandma and Grandpa, Daddy has found a miniature version of himself in his daughter. The resemblance is already quite striking!
But rest assured, Mommy also made sure to leave her own tiny, unique mark! Etta inherited a charming little space between her first two toes – a very useful feature, I might add, perfect for gripping things later on, or simply adding to her undeniable cuteness! It’s these little details that make her so uniquely ours.

Nap time with mommy this morning was precious. While it’s hard for mommy to catch some sleep when all she wants to do is gaze at the sweet, innocent faces this little princess makes while she sleeps, these moments are truly sacred. Each tiny sigh and flutter of her eyelids is a reminder of the incredible gift she is.
Cherished Daddy time at the hospital, establishing their incredible bond, followed by the momentous journey of Mommy carefully taking our little present home from the hospital. That drive home was filled with so much emotion, marking the true beginning of our new family life together.

Capturing a shot with Etta’s eyes wide open is proving to be quite the challenge in these early days! It seems her prime “awake and alert” window typically falls between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM – precisely when the official “camera crews” (aka tired parents) are least prepared for a photoshoot. But when those beautiful eyes do open, they are full of wonder.

Embracing the Journey of Parenthood with Etta
Welcoming Etta into our lives has been nothing short of transformative. Every day is a new adventure, filled with learning, laughter, and an unimaginable depth of love. We’re navigating the beautiful chaos of newborn life, cherishing every tiny yawn, every sleepy stretch, and every moment she spends nestled comfortably in our arms. The lack of sleep is a minor inconvenience compared to the immense joy and fulfillment she brings into our home. Her presence has filled our days with a new purpose and our nights with quiet adoration.
We’ve already started to marvel at her quick changes – how her features seem to refine daily, how her tiny expressions hint at the wonderful person she’ll become. From her delicate fingers to her sweet little toes (including that special one!), every part of her is perfect and endlessly fascinating. It’s a privilege to witness her growth and to be part of her earliest discoveries.
We’re so grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our family and friends during this incredible time. Your messages, gifts, and kind thoughts mean the world to us as we embark on this most extraordinary journey of parenthood. The bond we’re forming with Etta is already unbreakable, and we’re excited for all the firsts yet to come – first smiles, first giggles, and countless cherished memories.
