Mustard yellow is popping up everywhere as a 2018 color trend both in fashion and home design. Lately, style tastemakers from Dwell Studio founder Christiane Lemieuxr to Etsy trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson are all talking up this earthy hue. Ultra violet might be the Pantone Color of the Year, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only color trend to try.
A richer version of yellow, mustard adds warmth to a room without being too loud or bright. In many ways it can be treated the same as a neutral like beige or cream.
Today as part of our Color Files series, we’re sharing multiple ways to make mustard yellow work in your home decor. Read on for inspiration, including mustard yellow paint colors, and our go-to mustard yellow home decor items!

Mustard Yellow Furniture
Don’t be afraid to incorporate mustard colored furniture into a room. A mustard couch or arm chair acts more like a neutral than say a bright magenta or ultra violet option. To keep the color palette anchored in natural hues, add sage and grass green accents as seen in Fran from Fall for Handmade’s living room. Pink is another great color to pair with mustard.
